This summer, the City of Vernon repaved the parking lot at the Vernon Curling Club.

As they dug up all the dirt from the lot to replace pipes, they dumped all the debris into Becker Park, completely destroying the lower half of the park.

The lot was officially finished on Aug. 25, and the piles of debris are still there. Is anyone planning on cleaning up this mess?

A lot of people choose to live here because of the beautiful green spaces, parks and wetlands we (used to) have.

It seems like the city is more interested in turning these green spaces into dumping grounds for construction sites and transients than allowing the tax-paying citizens of Vernon the right to enjoy them.

The people and dogs who enjoy using Becker Park would really like to see the park returned to the state that it was in before the parking lot construction, or better.
