Bus terminal

Did you know that the city bus terminal was once located in the same place where city council now proposes to relocate it?

It was moved to the present location on Coldstream Avenue because the old location was unsafe. Bus passengers were harassed and robbed. This is a very unsavoury and dangerous area as has been proven. Come the dark days of fall and winter, there will be more problems. There will be no vehicle or pedestrian traffic, only a few street lights. Many people have expressed the need for evening bus service but at the proposed new location, they will be afraid of being robbed so they won't use it.

The present location on Coldstream Avenue is well lit. Safeway and Shoppers Drug Mart are open until late, plus there's plenty of vehicle and pedestrian traffic, a deterrent to would-be thieves.

It is time city hall gives some thought to bus users and their needs. Chopping down two very fine trees is unthinkable, unconscionable and unnecessary. Is this thinking green?
