Every spring, efforts are made to encourage people to leave their car in the driveway and commute to work using their bicycle.
Looking at the condition of our local bike paths, especially the markings on the roads that would help to avoid conflict between car traffic and bike users, it is far from inviting.
Daring to use your bike, you could easily end up in the hospital.
Even walking to work is a challenge as only rainbow coloured crosswalks are seemingly politically important and painted as newsworthy. All of the rest have become invisible for those who are colour blind.
