Pospisil Israel-bound
Following his solid performance at last week’s U.S. Open, Vernon’s Vasek Pospisil was reassigned to Canada’s Davis Cup tennis team for its upcoming World Group playoff tie against Israel.
Pospisil, 21, will join Toronto’s Daniel Nestor and Peter Polansky and Milos Raonic, both of Thornhill, Ont., for the showdown, Sept. 16-18 at Canada Stadium in Ramat Hasharon, Israel.
Raonic, ranked No. 29 by the ATP, is making his return from a hip injury he suffered at Wimbledon.
Pospisil, the world No. 143, was instrumental in helping Canada brush back Ecuador in the tournament’s Americas Zone Group I second-round tie in July.
