Sovereign Lake skier Byram shines
Vernon’s skier Eric Byram won a pair of medals in the recent Western Canadian Nordic Ski Championships in Canmore, Alta.
Byram finished sixth in the opening race, which was a five-kilometre classic race, just 13 seconds out of the medals.
On the second day, the race was a free technique sprint race. Qualifying in second place, just 0.1 of a second off the leader, Byram skied three more races (quarterfinals, semis and finals) eventually finishing first.
On the final day, Byram grabbed a bronze medal in the exciting 6.6-km distance free race.
Racing resumes in Prince George this weekend, for Races 3 and 4 of the B.C. Cup Series. Byram will also be competing in the Biathlon National Championships in Valcartier, Que. and Cross Country National Championships at Mont Ste. Anne, outside of Quebec City, in March.
