North Okanagan Knights rebound against Chase Heat
It won’t erase a disappointing weekend, but the North Okanagan Knights will be happy to get back on track with their 7-2 shellacking of the Chase Heat Wednesday night at Nor-Val Sports Centre.
The Knights opened the Kootenay International Junior Hockey League tilt with five unanswered goals before the Heat got on the board with a penalty shot by Kevin Leschuk, and a man-advantage goal by Dominick Hodges late in the second frame.
Second star Derek Andrews, scoring back-to-back goals in the second period, and first star Cory Hochhausen, who supplied a goal and two helpers, led the North Okanagan attack.
Singles by Lee Muir, Mateja Leko and Vernon’s Chris Gillies completed the offence in front of Aaron Brandoli, another Vernon product who finished with 20 stops.
The Knights, third in the Okanagan Shuswap Conference’s Doug Birks Division at 32-15-0-1, end a five-game home stand tonight against the Princeton Posse (26-17-1-3).
