Pospisil hits quarters
Vernon’s Vasek Pospisil reached the quarterfinals of both the singles and doubles events at the Savannah Tennis Challenger in Savannah, Ga.
Pospisil, now based in Vancouver, fell in three sets (2-6, 6-4, 7-5) to France’s Augustin Gensse in the quarters. In second-round action, Pospisil brushed back Switzerland’s Michael Lammer in straight sets (6-3, 6-3).
In doubles play, Pospisil and teammate Jesse Levine of the U.S. stopped American duo Vahid Mirzadeh and Phillip Simmonds 6-2, 7-3 (3), and Britain’s Chris Eaton and American Nicholas Monroe 7-6 (5), 6-2, before falling 6-7 (3), 6-2, 10-7 to the American-German tandem of Travis Parrott and Simon Stadler in the quarters.
