Kelowna triathletes top Kal RATS sprint

It was an all-Kelowna podium at the Kal RATS Sprint Triathlon Sunday morning at Kin Beach.

With two-time defending champion Nathan Champness putting his newfound emceeing skills to use while he recovers from hernia surgery, Chad Reid finished the 750-metre swim, 18.59-km bike and 5-km run in one hour and seven seconds to claim first place. Gary Wade (1:04:21) and Jesse Van Oene (1:04:45) were second and third respectively.

Vernon’s Sarah Clark was the first overall female in 1:07:59, followed by Vernon’s Erica Moser-Reschreiter (1:10:40) in second and Kelowna’s Valentina Miller (1:13:19) in third.

Top local male was Armstrong’s Sam Lazar, who clocked a 1:05:01, while Matt Baumeister (1:07:17, 7th) also cracked the top 10.
