Kelowna Rockets push win streak to five
The Kelowna Rockets extended their winning streak to five games Friday night, icing the Medicine Hat Tigers 5-2 in Western Hockey League play before 4,000 fans.
It was the third game of a five-game road trip. Kelowna continued its trek through the Central Division Saturday night in Red Deer versus the Rebels and face a matinee today in Calgary against the Hitmen.
Tyson Baillie, Damon Severson, Myles Bell, Henrik Nyberg and Dylen McKinlay scored for the 22-9-1-1 Rockets, who recorded wins against Kooteany and Lethbridge to open the road trip.
Jordon Cooke recorded 20 saves, while the Tigers’ Cam Lanigan made 34 stops. Medicine Hat dipped to 14-18-2.
The B.C. Division-leading Kamloops Blazers bowed 4-2 to the host Lethbridge Hurricanes Friday night before 3,612 fans at the Enmax Centre.
The Blazers are 25-9-1-2, seven points ahead of Kelowna, who hold four games in hand.
The Rockets’ next home tilt is Thursday, Dec. 27 against Kamloops.
