Aabye tops Starting Block 10km

Merritt’s Hans Aabye put his rangy stride to good use in the Starting Block Winter Carnival 10-km run Sunday in Lavington.

The lanky 35-year old completed the chilly course in 34 minutes, 17 seconds to claim first overall in the first leg of the Canadian Tire Road Series event. He finished ahead of Coldstream’s Nathan Champness (34:43) and Kelowna’s Nathan Reiter (34:51).

The top female was Kelowna’s Jessica Hannah, who clocked a 38:57 to finish seventh overall. She was followed by Canoe’s Glynis Sim (40:30) and Fruitvale’s Heather Johnson (40:56).

Under 15 Girls – Hannah Bennison (2nd, 42:12)

Women’s 30-34 – Krys Pick (2nd, 40:58), Shanda Hill (3rd, 46:17)

Women’s 35-39 – Seija Deleenheer (3rd, 45:11), Lisa Johnson (4th, 50:28)

Women’s 40-44 – Ladawn Petrone (3rd, 53:09)

Women’s 45-49 – Angelique Geelkerken (3rd, 53:43), Lynn Filice (4th, 55:28)

Women’s 50-54 – Myra Mattila (3rd, 49:57)

Women’s 55-59 – Lynda Proce (3rd, 48:36)

Women’s 60-64 – Janice Irwin (2nd, 55:17), Nancy Agassiz (3rd, 55:19)

Women’s 65-69 – Patricia Riegel (2nd, 56:49)

Women’s 70-74 – Gloria Larratt (2nd, 1:18:06)

16-19 Boys – Robby Filice (1st, 49:21)

Men’s 20-29 – Scott Wallace (1st, 39:26)

Men’s 35-39 – John Wilson (3rd, 41:57)

Men’s 40-44 – Darin Johaneson (3rd, 45:21)

Men’s 45-49 – Simon Craig (1st, 39:43), Philip Carruthers (2nd, 43:06)

Men’s 55-59 – Bill Mah (1st, 42:10), Bob Annad (3rd, 44:57).
