Falk pumps up Panthers

It was an all-Vernon final in the North Zone Junior Girls Basketball playoffs Saturday night.
Brianna Falk made two foul shots with one second left as the VSS Panthers clipped the Charles Bloom Timberwolves 57-56 in Friday night’s semifinal at Fulton.
Falk finished with 21 points, while Megan Wiebe fired eight points and pulled down 11 rebounds and recorded four steals.
“Brianna’s performance and heart inspired her teammates to keep digging and not give up against a relentless Lumby opponent,” said VSS coach Michele Wiebe.
Wynne Kanester sank eight points, while Mikaela Pfannschmidt and Taryn Kreeft each netted six. Jordynne Tomiak had five boards.
VSS ambushed the Revelstoke Avalanche 68-18 in Thursday action behind 15 points from Falk and 12 points and six boards from Kreeft. Reilly Lorenson drained eight points, while Kailyn Halvorson, back from a concussion, had three steals and three rebounds.
In junior boys zone play in Salmon Arm, VSS grounded Fulton Maroons 56-51 with Ben Hladik canning 19 points and Nathan Spark 10. Landon Matties had his best game of the year with nine points and Jakob Marshall contributed six. Kobe Romanovitch flushed 14 for Fulton.
VSS played either Seaton or Salmon Arm in Saturday’s final.
In senior boys league play, Tye Kitzman earned 19 points and 10 boards as Fulton iced PVSS Saints 83-40. Cory Ang-Hamilton and Jake O’Quinn each had 12 points with Ang-Hamilton getting six assists.
Lee Richardson sank nine points as Fulton beat PVSS 50-35 in senior girls play. AJ Jacura and Brittany Skrenek each deliver eight points.
