Brushett boosts Vipers

Ryan Brushett scored twice as the Vernon Vipers grounded the Prince George Spruce Kings 4-2 in B.C. Hockey League exhibition play Thursday night at Kal Tire Place.

Niko Karamanis and Adam Panacci added singles for the Vipers, who have two wins and an overtime loss in the pre-season.

Kyle Johnson and Nolan Welsh replied for Prince George. The Vipers outshot the Spruce Kings 17-5 in the first period and 41-27 on the night.

Newcomer Finn Evans, of Toronto, made his debut on a Viper line with Brushett and Connor Marritt. Evans and Marritt earned assists on Brushett’s second tally.

Vernon hosts the Trail Smoke Eaters in exhibition play Saturday night.
