Unbeaten in the preseason, the Vernon Tier 3 Midget Vipers put their offence on display to open the regular Okanagan Mainline Hockey Association season last weekend.

Keith Green’s squad shelled the Kamloops Blazers 9-1 Sunday after ambushing Kelowna Rockets 13-0 Saturday, both games at Civic Arena.

Ethan Joe, Trevor Kennedy and Mason Robinson each supplied two goals against Kamloops with KT Walters (1+3), Carter Wiebe and Cory Lazar adding singles in support of Jordan Foster.

Koltin Dodge went the distance in net versus Kelowna with Walters counting 4+2 and Jacob Green earning 2+2.

Kennedy, with 2+1, Robinson, Lazar, Tyson Sampert, Gavin Fleck and Russel Barrett completed the offence.

Kelowna Rockets stopped the host Vernon Marriott Lakers 4-2 in Sunday’s final of the five-team Bantam Female A Tournament.

Teagan Webster-Locke and Makenna Howe scored for Vernon.

The Lakers dispatched Penticton 6-1, tied Kelowna 2-2 and shut down Windermere 7-0 in preliminary action.

Jordyn Morris, Holly Magnus, Shirelle Nickoli, Paige Brayshaw and Kaisy Huber supplied the Marriott snipes in the round-robin.

The Lakers host Williams Lake in league play this weekend at Priest Valley Arena. The teams play Saturday 7:45 p.m. and Sunday 12:15 p.m.
