Vernon’s Matthew Kreutz ended up alone in 53rd spot at the 115th annual B.C. Amateur Men’s Golf Championship.

The 72-hole event was played at Surrey’s Morgan Creek Golf Course.

Kreutz, who plays university golf with North Dakota’s Minot State Beavers, entered the weekend tied for 22nd. He shot final rounds of 77 and 79 to finish at 13-over 301, one shot ahead of a group of four that included 13-time B.C. Amateur and four-time Canadian Amateur champ Doug Roxburgh of Vancouver.

Kreutz was the lone Vernon golfer out of four to make the 36-hole cut.

The 115th championship was won by Victoria’s Jake DuVall, who defeated Bellingham’s Jacob Koppenberg in a playoff. Both golfers finished 72 holes tied at 12-under 276, one shot better than Kevin Carrigan of Victoria.

Finishing in a tie for fifth was a 13-year-old, Jeevan Sihota of Victoria, who finished five shots back of the leaders.
