Rookie Jeff Nice bagged a deuce as Turn-Key Controls Ogopogos ambushed the Pushor Mitchell Rented Mules 5-0 in Capri Insurance Soccer League play Monday night at Marshall Field #1.

The Pogos gained an own goal while also getting tallies from Volker Otto and Jason Beck. Otto moved up from fullback to fill in for suspended striker Ruben Cerventes. Bobby Zalcik earned the one-save clean sheet while texting summer greetings to relatives.

Turn-Key improved to 8-1 as they ready for a showdown with second-place Penticton TC United (9-1), who won 1-0 by forfeit over Bosman Accountants.

Jim Kruiper registered the hat trick as Brown Benefits went to 10-0 with a 9-2 win over plucky Real JVL at Mission #10 Sportsfield.

Tim Austen and Kelly Sherman each rang up a pair, while singles were turned in by Trevor Lutes and Steve Fagan.

Real JVL pressured the league leaders throughout the match and were rewarded with goals by Matt Smith and Andy Woodward. Jay Christensen recorded countless spectacular saves for Real JVL 0-9-1.

Soccer United brushed back the Okanagan Spring Brewery Camels 2-1 at Beasley Park in Lake Country.

It was scoreless at halftime after the teams traded Grade A chances throughout 45 minutes. Early in the second half, United’s Mike Bertoia beat a Camel defender and then calmly flicked it over keeper Ron Krause for the first goal, his 11th of the year.

Not long after, the Camels (1-7-1) tied it when a United defender failed to clear it under pressure inside the box, resulting in Steve Milnex slotting the equalizer just inside the post.

Bruno Curatolo broke up the attack in United’s end and made a rare foray up the field with some slick give-and-goes, beating a Camel with some nifty footwork and sending Andy Macdonnell through to the corner. Macdonnell crossed it to a waiting Vinny Delgado, who fired home the winner from the top of the 18 with Krause getting a piece of the shot. United is 6-4.

RPM Automotive built up a 4-0 halftime lead and cruised to a 7-1 bouncing of Brandt’s Creek Pub at Parkinson #16 Field in Kelowna.

Roger Russell pocketed three goals for RPM (2-6-2), while Jason Jennens dialed a deuce and singles came from Claudio Dibiase and Doug Roth. The Pubbers (4-5-1) had two players ejected with red cards.

Tree Brewing FC and Mission Cleaners battled to a 1-1 draw.

at Kelowna City Park.

Julien Vernet converted early for the 6-3-1 Brewers, while Gigi Moldovan counted his league-high 13th on a penalty shot with two minutes remaining for the Cleaners (6-4-1).
