A late rally by the White House Mortgage Gators fell short in the Vernon Women’s Slopitch League season opener.

Tenacity took control of the opener with a six-run fourth inning, and held on to beat the Gators 11-10.

Brandy Sarrasin was tenacious for Tenacity, going 4-for-4 with three singles and a double. Melyssa Edwards’ triple drove in a run. Shortstop Laura Vallier rocked, turning a double play and saving Tenacity many runs with her quick glove.

Longtime Gator Brandie Hunter returned from exile and went 2-for-2 at the plate. Nancy Lafreniere drove in four runs with a 3-for-4 night at the dish. Tiffany Disher and Sarah McDonnel also went 3-for-4 while Melissa Locke drove in two runs with a pair of hits and a sacrifice fly.

One other score from opening night (no details) saw Dynamite explode for an 18-13 win over the Ice Cold Pitches.
