Seniors are planning to gather at Christy Clark’s office today for a protest aimed at supporting better care for seniors.

The rally will begin at noon with a singing performance by the “Raging Grannies,” located at the MLA office of Christy Clark at #3-2429 Dobbin Rd. in West Kelowna.

“Your attendance will give our seniors hope for a better future,” read a statement from organizers who say they have the support of the Hospital Employees Union and the BC Nurses Union through a newsletter sent to members encouraging their attendance.

“The timing of this rally was prompted by the recent staffing review which found that most senior facilities do not meet minimal government standards,” said the group. “With the help of the media, the citizens of B.C. can send the message to the government that legislated staff increases must be implemented to ensure the health and safety of our seniors.”

The event is expected to take place from noon to 3 p.m. today.

The Capital News will be there and will update the story this afternoon.
