During its grand opening week, Salmon Arm's new McDonald's restaurant at 2991 9th Ave. SW will be raising funds for the Shuswap Children's Association.

Salmon Arm's new McDonald's restaurant will be off to a happy start this week with a fundraiser in support of a local non-profit.

The new Golden Arches at 2991 9th Ave. SW (near Walmart) will be open to the public as of 11 a.m. on Thursday, Nov. 7, following a ribbon-cutting VIP event being held the evening prior.

With the Thursday opening, the new McDonald's location will also be kicking off a fundraiser for the Shuswap Children's Association. The Salmon Arm McHappy Day partner will receive $1 from every Happy Meal sold during the grand-opening week, reads a Nov. 4 media release.

"The Shuswap Children's Association has been a partner with us for the few years and it’s an important organization to our McDonald’s crew," said Chris Erickson, the owner/operator of several McDonald's restaurants in the North Okanagan-Shuswap, including the new Salmon Arm location.

"We have some crew members who have kids that use the services they provide, so we want to engage with the community to help raise the funds for them to continue supporting children in the Salmon Arm community."
