This photo of two pheasants fighting at Swan Lake has been recognized by the Professional Photographers of Canada.

Vernon photographer Christiane Molendyk has had one image selected for inclusion in a national exhibition.

Molendyk earned an honourable mention for her image Dominance in the animal class by the Professional Photographers of Canada.

“I was doing bird photography at Swan Lake and we came across these two pheasants fighting one another. The bird in flight was definitely the dominant bird,” she said.

“When they realized we were there, they went their separate ways but not before the one stopped in its tracks and looked back at us as.”

The photo has also been selected for inclusion in the Professional Photographers of Canada’s 2016 Loan Collection, a national exhibition celebrating the best of professional photography.

A panel of master photographers judged the works submitted by photographers.
