Armstrong abuzz around parade

Anticipation builds as Interior Provincial Exhibition parade draws near

The buzz is starting about the Interior Provincial Exhibition Parade.

The annual event starts at 10 a.m., Sept. 1, and the theme is ‘Catch The Buzz,’ a salute to the IPE’s Honey Division.

More than 90 entries have been accepted to date, including community, business, bands, equestrian units, floats, mascots, animal units and vintage vehicles.

Viewing area for the parade is along Pleasant Valley Road beginning at Memorial Park through to the corner of Smith Drive and Rosedale Avenue.

Although entries will continue along Rosedale to Pleasant Valley to disband, this is not a viewing area for the parade. Best bet? Take advantage of the green space at Memorial Park and along Pleasant Valley Road.

A reminder that access into downtown Armstrong will be very limited during the parade.  Visitors and residents are asked to be in town before road closures begin at 9:30 a.m. or to take alternate routes using Pleasant Valley Road, Otter Lake Cross Road or Lansdowne Roads.

Watch for traffic control on the highway and throughout Armstrong, who will be enforcing road closures and alternate access during parade time.
