Avenue Market proves popular

DVA officials say the support of downtown businesses, vendors and the public was critical.

The inaugural Avenue Market has wrapped up for the season.

The market, which ran Friday nights on 30th Avenue from May to September, featured farm-fresh produce and locally made products, as well as merchandise from downtown businesses.

“Customer traffic is key to the success of both businesses and the market and we couldn’t be more pleased with the turn out for the Avenue Market,” said Lara Konkin, Downtown Vernon Association executive director.

“A vibrant and active downtown is a tremendous benefit to those of us who work and own businesses here as well as those that love to shop.”

DVA officials say the support of downtown businesses, vendors and the public was critical.

“The Downtown Avenue Market helps support the local economy and creates a unique destination, we are fortunate to have such a fantastic location to be able to offer this experience to so many,” said Dina Mostat, Avenue Market co-ordinator.

“And the community came out and embraced this new market every week from adding to the atmosphere on our streets and sidewalks, which attracted business to our stores and restaurants nearby.”
