A new holiday on track for B.C. is being celebrated with savings for skiers throughout B.C., including those heading up to Silver Star.
The province’s first Family Day – Monday, Feb. 11, 2013, will allow B.C. residents a chance at half price lift tickets.
The Star is part of Canada West Ski Areas Association’s B.C. Family Day ski promotion, announced in celebration of Family Day.
“We expect the addition of the Family Day holiday will boost the economy and the tourism industry in B.C.,” said Pat Bell, Minister of Jobs, Tourism and Innovation. “This new February holiday is an opportunity for British Columbians to share time with their families while supporting our local ski industry and hotel and food operators.”
The holidays also created significant opportunities for the B.C. Ski and Tourism Industries, by avoiding an overlap with similar holidays in other jurisdictions, on which many B.C. ski resorts are typically operating at capacity.
In light of the timing of B.C.’s new statutory holiday, B.C. residents can purchase lift tickets 50 per cent off for use on Feb. 11 at the following resorts:
– Apex Mountain Resort
– Mount Seymour
– Big White Ski Resort
– Mount Washington Alpine Resort
– Crystal Mountain Resort
– Panorama Mountain Village
– Fernie Alpine Resort
– Red Mountain
– Grouse Mountain
– Revelstoke Mountain Resort
– Hemlock Resort
– Silver Star Mountain Resort
– Kicking Horse Mountain Resort
– Sun Peaks Resort
– Kimberley Alpine Resort
– Lost Lake Cross Country
– Whistler Olympic Park
– Manning Park Resort
– Whitewater Ski Resort
“From abundant snow to stunning scenery, B.C. ski resorts offer a diverse variety of world-class skiing,” said David Lynn, President and CEO, Canada West Ski Areas Association. “We are very excited to be able to celebrate the first BC Family Day by providing B.C. families with the opportunity to experience B.C. skiing at half the regular price.
“We hope that British Columbians take advantage of this fun and healthy way to enjoy the first B.C. Family Day.”
