BDO will continue the fight against hunger this fall in the eighth year of its Drive Away Hunger campaign.
The largest employee-led food drive in Canada will see 100 per cent of donations directly benefiting each office’s local food bank.
Locally, the staff at BDO have been busy collecting food and money for the benefit of the Salvation Army Vernon.
Each week includes a focus of a specific food item that food bank needs, as well as picking apples and a weekly jean’s day fundraiser.
BDO Vernon’s main event will be a barbecue Friday at Save-On Foods from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. BDO is partnering with Save-On Foods to raise money by donation.
Friday will also see one of the partners of BDO, Markus Schrott, camp out on the roof with Jim Tennant, manager of Save-On Foods, for the night.
“Last year we collected 2,600 lbs of food and our goal this year is to reach 5,000 lbs,” said Kathy Pepper, office manager. “So come on out and help us achieve our goal and support the Salvation Army.”
