Students at a Greater Vernon school want to make sure everyone has a friend.
BX Elementary’s Healthy Schools Team recently installed a Buddy Bench for students who may need a friend at break times.
“It is intended to be used by new students, for students who want to meet new friends or if someone is having a conflict and needs a break,” said Christine Trickey, teacher.
“The Healthy Schools team members help monitor the bench to ensure that all students feel included and that everyone has someone to play with outside.”
The team also hosts lunchtime fun activities for primary students, including a bike rodeo and fundraising for a second water filtration system in the school.
The Buddy Bench was created and donated by students Addy and Mavrick Ponich.
