Caroling helps Kindale programs

Every year during the Christmas season, Deb White, teams with Dawn King for Caroling For A Cause.

Deb White is likely known more for mortgages than music.

But every year during the Christmas season, White, of White House Mortgages, teams with Vernon singer Dawn King of The Kings for Caroling For A Cause.

The pair will again sing Christmas carols on Tuesday from noon to 2 p.m. in front of the Vernon Square Safeway to raise money and awareness for the Armstrong-based Kindale Developmental Association.

“I am sure that it will be wonderful to hear Dawn sing, as that is what she does for a living, however, to hear me sing may be another story,” laughed White. “So we are asking for pledges to help us along (or to make me stop singing, your choice really).”

Kindale is a registered charity that has been supporting individuals with disabilities in the North Okanagan for more than 54 years.

Started as a small school by Lydia Boss, Kindale has grown into a large and diverse organization.  Currently, Kindale has four residential homes, two community living centres, two community inclusion centres and one thrift store.

Join the ladies Dec. 10 where cash, debit, Visa or MasterCard will be accepted. All donations of $20 or more will be provided with a tax receipt.

You can donate online prior to Caroling For A Cause at the secure website, https://www.canadahelps.org/dn/8931.

For those out of town and who cannot be there to donate in person, or to see Deb and Dawn singing away, the duet will take a small zip video of the event and will e-mail it to those of you who donate.

You can also drop your donations off at White House Mortgages, #1 – 3009-43rd Avenue.

More information about Kindale, can be found @ www.kindale.net.

White and King have sang for the Salvation Army in 2009, Teen Junction in 2010, NONA in 2011, Teens Count Too in 2012 and, with the community’s help, raised more than $10,500 to help those in need.

Also if you cannot make it on the 10th, feel free to drop your donation off at White House Mortgages.
