Airplanes and emergency responders are the focus of a community event returning to Salmon Arm.
The Shuswap Regional Airport Open House and Emergency Preparedness Expo will take place at the city airport Sunday, June 25.
Formerly known as Airport Appreciation Day, the event was last held in 2018. For its return, the Salmon Arm Flying Club and partners have arranged a day of aerial demonstrations, displays, kids activities and more.
The list of things to see and do include: a Rapattack demonstration, the Vernon Snowflakes Precision Formation Flying Group who will be making an appearance, a firefighter skills challenge, numerous aircraft (life size and models) will be on display, classic cars, an Air Cadet parade and more. Shuswap first responders – firefighters, BC Ambulance and RCMP – will have displays, as will the Salmon Arm Road Rescue Unit and Royal Canadian Marine Search & Rescue.
There will be a number things for kids to do and enjoy such as face painting, free foam airplanes and ice pops (while supplies last).
Hotdogs, hamburgers and beverages will be sold onsite.
Gates open at 10 a.m. and admission is by donation.
