The City of Vernon has renewed its neighbourhood tree planting program for 2017 and 2018.
The program, which offers residents a $20 voucher at Swan Lake Nurseryland for the purchase of a tree, encourages Vernon residents to plant trees in their yards.
“These trees contribute to better air and storm water quality, reduce energy needs and make Vernon more beautiful,” said Tanya Laing Gahr, the city’s communications officer.
“Vouchers for the tree planting program will be available in the spring.”
The boulevard tree program where residents could request that the city plant a tree in the boulevard in front of their home for $50 is discontinued due to low participation.
