Stuart Fleming was mayor of Vernon in 1974. Dave Barrett was B.C.’s premier. Pierre Trudeau was the prime minister.
The Philadelphia Flyers won the Stanley Cup. And Barbara Streisand’s The Way We Were was Billboard’s No. 1 song of the year.
Vernon Senior Secondary’s Class of 1974 can talk about the way they were then, and the way they are now, at the class’ 40-year reunion Aug. 15 and 16.
“We’re going to have a meet-and-greet Friday night at the Army and Navy Club, and there will be a dinner and dance Saturday at the Best Western Plus Vernon Lodge,” said reunion spokesperson Marty Stein.
Vernon band Mace will play the music for the dance.
The Class of ‘74 has created a website dedicated to the reunion – www.vss74.com – which is designed to share memories and photos, as well as finding missing classmates.
