Residents of a North Okanagan community have come together.

An inaugural community day block party was held Sunday at Cosens Bay, just south of Kalamalka Lake Provincial Park.

“It was an opportunity to bring people together,” said Rob Johnston, a member of the Cosens Bay Property Owners Association.

“We had four generations of one family that has been out there that whole time.”

More than 100 residents and family members attended the event, which included a barbecue.

The highlight of the day was the unveiling of a new community sign and gathering area.

“There’s been a sign there since the 1950s and we needed to replace it,” said Johnston.

“We recommitted our dedication to maintaining a community characterized by concern for one another.”

There is a seasonal nature to Cosens Bay during the summer, but a number of residents also live there year-round.

“It’s an absolutely wonderful place to live. It’s a community we love,” said Johnston.
