A love of motorcycles and dedication to fighting a potentially deadly disease is driving some Canadian celebrities to Vernon Wednesday.

The Cruise With a Cause, in support of the Prostate Cancer Foundation of B.C., will see stars from the TV show Heartland in town.

The cruise kicked off with a gala reception and charity fundraiser Saturday (Aug. 31) in Vancouver. Then today, Cruise with a Cause co-founders Graham Wardle (Heartland star) and Don McLeod and a select group of riders will embark on a motorcycle marathon to major cities across B.C.

The tour includes a stop in Vernon Wednesday from noon to 2 p.m. at Bannister Honda.

“Bannister is donating the space and we’ll have a barbecue going so we can help the community and be part of the need for this cause,” said Pat Loehendorf at Bannister Honda.

Wardle plays Ty Borden on the Canadian television show Heartland. Some of his co-workers are also paired up with the cause, as well as former NHL enforcer Gino Odjick.
