A total of 1,928 pounds of donated items, mainly non-perishable food, as well as $2,000 in cash and cheques were donated to the Lake Country Food Bank.

“We are extremely pleased with our totals this year,” said Cst. Jesse O’Donaghey.

“To everyone who braved the cold weather and came out to donate to the Lake Country Food Bank, thank-you for helping us make a difference.”

Const. O’Donaghey began the Cram the Cruiser event after taking part in a similar food drive when he was stationed in the lower mainland.

Last year’s inaugural event raised plenty of food and cash and this year was no different as the community came out to support local emergency personnel in their efforts to give back to the community.

“The holiday season is well known to be a hard time of year on families in need, and certainly harder on the local food banks that support those families,” said O’Donaghey.

“The Lake Country Food Bank alone provides assistance to 303 clients which includes over 140 families.

“This is a wonderful opportunity for the members and volunteers of the RCMP to interact with members of the general public in a positive way, while doing something great for those in need in the District of Lake Country.”
