The Columbia-Shuswap Regional District is receiving $15,000 from the provincial government to attract film and TV producers.

“B.C. has earned a reputation as Hollywood North, and for good reason,” said Shuswap MLA George Abbott.

“Our film commissions provide great production and post-production services, our crews are the best in the world, and of course, we offer the best backdrop imaginable.”

Motion picture and television producers spent more than  $1 billion in British Columbia during 2010.

B.C.’s film production industry directly and indirectly employs more than 25,000 people.

British Columbians working in the motion picture industry earned wages of about $450 million in 2010.

The CSRD includes Falkland.
