The Vernon Curling Rink parking lot is being significantly reconstructed between July 17 and Aug. 23, with the lot closed to all traffic during this time.

The curling rink parking lot is badly deteriorated and in need of replacement. The overall project includes the replacement of the blacktop surface and substrate, the replacement of sidewalks on the north end of the Vernon Recreation Centre, replacement of the existing 1966 water main that runs through the parking lot, updating a fire hydrant, new storm and sewer lines, new catch basins, and a new garbage bin enclosure. The parking stall layout will also be realigned and re-painted to increase parking capacity.

The overall cost to complete the project in one phase, including all consultation fees and contingencies, is estimated at $439,109.
