April is a time for spring cleaning and getting rid of all that “stuff” that has accumulated in the last year.

The North Okanagan Hospice Society would like to help by providing a space for people to sell their items, and in turn they can support hospice care at the same time.

The society is launching its first garage sale Saturday, April 30, from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m., in the Hospice parking lot (3506 - 27th Ave.) with tables set up for community members to sell their stuff.

“We are encouraging the community to sign up for a table and get rid of their unwanted items while supporting Hospice to fundraise money for our essential programs and services,” executive director Lisa Matthews said. “Participants can ask their neighbors to join in and share a table. There will be refreshments available, and we are looking forward to a fun day out.”

Tables are limited so booking a table will be on a first come, first serve basis.

For more information or to book a table, email info@nohs.ca with your name, phone number and email and they will reserve your table for you.

“We have also gained support from Vernon Home Building Centre in the lead up to this event,” said Matthews.

Any donation made with a purchase during the month of April at Home Building Centre (4601 - 27th St.) will be matched, up to $1,000.

“We thank Vernon Home Building Centre for their amazing support of this event.”

NOHS is a registered charity that operates a 12-bed palliative care facility in Vernon for residents of the North Okanagan.

Those who miss out on Saturday’s sale, or anyone looking for even more treasures, can check out the Vernon Lions Club garage sale in the Kal Tire parking lot (5451 Anderson Way) Sunday, May 1, from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. Donated items are welcome, to arrange pick and/or delivery times call Judy at 250-540-1148 or Jackie at 250-542-1947.
