UPDATE May 31:

Organizers of a charity fundraiser regret to announce they have had to cancel the event.

The Vernon Animal Auxiliary Thrift Store had planned the event for June 3 (as advertised in the June 1 newspaper). Unfortunately the Diamond Dance has to be cancelled.

ORIGINAL MAY 27:

Get ready to dance in support of Vernon’s Animal Auxiliary Thrift Store.

A Diamond Dance will be hosted at the Best Western Premier hotel, 535 Anderson Way, on Saturday, June 3, from 7 p.m. to midnight.

Proceeds from the event will benefit the Animal Auxiliary Thrift Store, which in turn supports the animal disaster teams, helps local people with vet bills and provides food hampers for animals and people all year round.

Tickets for the event are $100 and can be purchased by calling 250-438-0062, or picked up at the Animal Auxiliary at 3100A 29th Ave.

The event will have more than $6,000 in door prizes and draws, including a chance to win a $2,000 diamond ring from Hagemann Jewellers.

There will also be a cash bar and snacks served.

The Vernon Animal Auxiliary Thrift Store was started by the Horse Protection Society of BC and helps many people and organizations in the Okanagan.

During fire and flood season, the auxiliary is on high alert ready to transport food and rescue animals from evacuated areas.

Donations of any amount are more than welcome at the event.

“We could not do what we do without the help of our volunteers and community, this is a truly local charity that never turns anyone away,” the auxiliary said.

Discounted room rates are available.
