District receives recycling recognition

The Canadian Electrical Stewardship Association has honoured the Regional District of North Okanagan

The Canadian Electrical Stewardship Association has awarded the Regional District of North Okanagan with an ElectroRecycle Civic Award in recognition of its achievements in recycling.

Per household in 2012, North Okanagan residents collected 1.77 kilograms of electrical waste, one of the highest rates in the province.

“The citizens in this district have demonstrated exemplary recycling,” says Julie Robertson, program co-ordinator at ElectroRecycle, B.C.’s small appliance and power tool recycling program.

RDNO was awarded $5,000 to use in further building awareness of recycling initiatives in the area.
