The sixth annual Prospera Vernon Dragon Boat Festival is at Kal Beach Saturday.

There will be considerable action on Kalamalka Lake Saturday.

The sixth annual Prospera Vernon Dragon Boat Festival takes place at Kal Beach in Coldstream.

“There will be 16 teams with 22 participants on each boat,” said Wendy Phillips, with the Vernon Rowing and Dragon Boat Club.

“It includes three millennium dragon boats racing 500 metres and there is a mix of breast cancer survivors and mixed teams.”

The breast cancer carnation ceremony takes place at approximately noon and races go from 8:30 a.m. to 3 p.m. The third annual water ski challenge follows all of the dragon boat races and Beachside Market, from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m., will feature local crafts, souvenir shirts, hats and glasses.

Coldwater Road will be performing music throughout the day.

Organizers are partnering with the Vernon Jubilee Hospital Foundation and the goal is to raise $10,000 to purchase breast cancer diagnostic equipment.
