Greater Vernon residents will be able to get rid of their Christmas tree in an environmentally friendly way.
Residents of Vernon, Coldstream and the BX can take their tree to the drop-off site at 47th Avenue and 20th Street, next to St. John Ambulance, until Jan. 13.
The trees will then be chipped and used for ground cover.
“No plastic bags or other debris is to be left at the site,” said James Rice, public works manager.
“Christmas trees can also be taken to regional landfills free of charge until the end of January.”
