Get ready to strike gold in Enderby over the May long weekend.

The 25th annual B.C. Open Gold Panning Competition starts today and runs until Sunday at the  Riverside RV Park.

“The event is hosted by the Vernon Placer Miners,” said Corinne Van De Crommenacker, with the Enderby Chamber of Commerce.

The event kicks off today with Jammers night followed by night metal detecting.

Registration begins Saturday at 9 a.m., followed by the opening ceremony at 9:30 a.m.

“The day will be packed full of games, door prizes, and plenty of gold panning action,” said Van De Crommenacker.

Saturday night is the bannock baking competition and more jamming.

Sunday will be all about the finals and the awards ceremony.

The Enderby Lions Club will host pancake breakfasts Saturday and Sunday from 7 to 9 a.m. at the Lions Gazebo.

“There will be vendors on site as well as a spectators tent to watch all of the action,” said Van De Crommenacker.

“Make it a camping weekend and book your site at Riverside RV Park.”
