In light of an emergency appeal in Palestine, a Vernon couple decided to do a fundraiser and presentation in order to raise awareness about the issue in the community.
Sana Mohammed and her husband, Muhammad William Creelman, have helped raise more than $3,000.
“In seeing this crisis, we knew that we had to do something to send humanitarian aid,” said Sana. On Aug. 7, the couple hosted a presentation called Misconceptions about Islam to raise funds.
“The support we had from the community of Vernon was phenomenal, as we raised more than $2,000 that night alone, and only a few days later w reached a grand total of $3,062.30,” said Sana, who sent the money via Islamic Relief Canada. “We wanted to thank the community of Vernon for giving us so much support, as it surpassed our expectations and completely melted our hearts.”
