JCI Vernon is getting ready to host the seventh annual Alternative Gift Fair Saturday.

The event runs from noon to 5 p.m. at the Schubert Centre.

“The fair offers holiday shoppers an easy way to buy gifts of charitable donations and to support their favourite causes,” said Deryk Ellison, fair co-chairperson.

“Each participating organization offers a variety of meaningful gifts of help in price ranges that start as low as $10. Shoppers will receive cards that identify their donations.”

The participating groups are the Okanagan Rail Trail Initiative, Zimbabwe Project Canada, the Road Home Rescue and Safekeeping Society, Days for Girls Canada, Special Olympics, Upper Room Mission, Sleeping Children Across the World, ECC Saturday Street Lunch, Good Samaritan Society Heron Grove, John Howard Society and the Nexus Community Resource Centre.

Representatives from each not-for-profit group will be present at the fair, and they will be educating visitors about their current projects and programs.
