Volunteers are needed for a speed watch program in Falkland.
Applicants must be older than 19 years of age, have a clean driving record, and pass an RCMP enhanced security screening process.
“The purpose of the speed watch program is to enhance the safety and overall livability of our communities,” said Const. Milan Ilic of the Falkland detachment.
Speed watch helps increase the level of awareness surrounding the issues of unsafe speed and dangerous driving, and reducing the incidents of speeding by informing drivers as to how fast they are actually traveling.
Digital speed reader boards and radar units are placed and operated in areas where speeding has been observed and reported.
“Speed watch enables the tracking of statistics in the areas being monitored which benefits the general public, police, municipal and district governments, and ICBC,” said Ilic.
If you are interested in volunteering, contact Ilic at the Falkland detachment at 250-379-2311.
Application forms are available at either the City of Vernon Community Policing Office or through your local RCMP detachment.
