Families hook into Fish Out

The 13th annual Kalamalka Fly Fishers Polson Pond Fish Out is all set for Saturday and Sunday (9 a.m. to 4 p.m. each day).

A local group is getting kids hooked on fishing as they make a splash at the Polson Park pond.

The 13th annual Kalamalka Fly Fishers Polson Pond Fish Out is all set for Saturday and Sunday (9 a.m. to 4 p.m. each day).

“One thousand rainbow trout will be put into the Polson Pond for you to catch,” said Bill Kirkland, Kalamalka Fly Fishers president. “Each trout weighs about three-quarters of a pound (12 to 16 inches). You can keep two fish each day to take home for dinner.”

The free fishing event is open to kids aged four to 14, accompanied by an adult. Bring your fishing rod, bobbers, barbless hooks, and worms.

“I hope to see you at the pond,” said Kirkland.
