Vernon's annual festive feast is turning a decade old.

"We got a huge turkey dinner," said organizer Michael Robinson. "The whole focus is treating people to a festive atmosphere who might not otherwise experience it."

The feast takes place on Saturday, Dec. 14, at All Saints Anglican Church and is free to attend. Doors open at 11 a.m., and the festivities will run until 12:30 p.m.

Local students from Beairsto and St. James elementary schools are providing the handcrafted placemats for attendees, while magician Leif David will be dazzling attendees with tricks table-to-table.

Gift bags will also be given out, which include warm socks, hats and treats.

Robinson was pleased with last year's turnout of over 175 people and is expecting a similar number this year.

"The word 'need' is what I am keying in on this year," he said. "For some, need means getting food in their stomach and for others, there is a need to go out and be around people. I hope we can provide that at the feast."

Robinson wanted to thank local support from Alexander’s Pub, Bell Lumber and Pole, Butcher Boys, Cambium Cidery, Cobs Bread, Friesen’s Countrytyme, Home Depot, London Drugs, Real Canadian Superstore, SilverStar Mountain Resort and Starbucks (Village Green Mall) for their help organizing and donating this year.
