Vernon’s M&M Meat Shop is serving up support for the Crohn’s and Colitis Foundation of Canada.
The Vernon Square location joins the more than 450 stores across Canada Saturday from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. for the 24th annual Charity BBQ Day.
Franchisees, staff and thousands of volunteers from coast-to-coast will be manning their grills to meet the fundraising goal of $1.5 million.
Supporters will receive a hamburger or hot dog, a drink and a bag of chips for a minimum donation of $3. All food and time is donated, so every penny raised goes directly to CCFC Crohn’s and colitis research.
“M&M Meat Shops Charity BBQ Day is an important way to raise money and awareness for Crohn’s disease and ulcerative colitis, and hopefully, help kids like me feel better,” said 12-year-old Landon Lafond, who was diagnosed with Crohn’s three years ago and is now representing CCFC.
For an additional $2, supporters can cool down by purchasing a delicious M&M Meat Shops Strawberry Shortcake Bar with proceeds donated to CCFC.
Customers can also support IBD research by purchasing and signing a $2 Star between now and Sunday. They will also have a chance to win a $500 M&M Meat Shops gift card. Stars can be purchased in-store or online at ccfc.ca/star
For $3, supporters will receive a Star, an M&M Meat Shops blossom pastry and double their chance to win the $500 gift card.
Or for $5, supporters will receive a Star, a coupon book worth more than $50 in M&M Meat Shops savings and triple their chance to win the gift card.
