Watkin Motors is bringing Ford Motor Company of Canada’s Drive One 4 UR Community program to Vernon in an effort to raise up to $6,000 for United Way.
For every person who test drives a Ford vehicle on Saturday, Watkin Motors and Ford of Canada will donate $20 to the organization’s community fund. There will also be a hot dog sale on-site, with all proceeds going to United Way.
“Our family here at Watkin Motors has been working with United Way for many years, and we know how important their work is to our community’s children, seniors and people with disabilities,” says Ross Blankley, general manager at Watkin Motors.
“We’re excited to be working again with our United Way and at the same time introducing North Okanagan drivers to our high-quality line-up and innovative safety technologies.”
The event, which will be held from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. at the VantageOne Credit Union parking lot (3300 Block of 31st Street in Vernon), will feature a selection of a dozen available Ford models, including the Fiesta, Ecoboost, Ford F-150 and Mustang convertible.
“The team at Watkin Motors has been an incredible support to us for more than 15 years, helping us raise money and connect with our community through creative and inspiring events,” says Linda Yule, executive director of United Way. “Our community fund serves a very large region, and it’s important that the full cross-section of the community benefits from our programs and initiatives, so we are really looking forward to the Drive One event.”
Since the start of Ford’s Drive One 4 UR School and Community programs in 2010, more than 25,000 test-drives at more than 160 events have generated in excess of $460,000 in donations for high schools and organizations in Canada.
This is the third Drive One event held by Watkin Motors this year.
Participants must be 18 or older and have a valid driver’s licence.
There is a limit of one test-drive per household.
