Funtastic signs Save-On-Foods

Funtastic, North America’s largest slo-pitch tournament, has added another major player to the roster

Funtastic, North America’s largest slo-pitch tournament, has added another major player to the roster.

Save-On-Foods has joined the Funtastic Summer Festival as a title sponsor of the June 28-July 1 event in Vernon.

The award-winning slo-pitch tournament will now be known as the Save-On-Foods Funtastic Slo-pitch Tournament.

“We were proud to be one of the title sponsors of Funtastic and are thrilled to be on board this year,” said Vernon Save-On-Foods manager, Jim Tennant.

“Summertime is a great time for Save-On-Foods. We’re looking forward to satisfying the hunger of the huge crowd in Vernon this July long weekend.

“Our company is very proud of its B.C. roots and sponsoring a community event such as Funtastic gives us a chance to celebrate with our customers and our neighbours.”

The Save-On-Foods Funtastic Slo-pitch Tournament began as a grassroots, community supported event in 1985, focused on raising funds for local community sport and recreation.

In 1985, $860 was provided to Special Olympics.

This initial commitment has continued and grown as the Funtastic Sports Society has now donated more than $1.5 million to support sports and recreation throughout the region.

“With so many visitors camping and residents hosting barbecues during Funtastic, it’s just a natural fit to have a strong B.C. brand such as Save-On-Foods as the title sponsor of the slo-pitch tournament,” said Jim McEwan, executive director, partner, Funtastic Sports Society.

“We are looking forward to a great long weekend with our fans enjoying the wide selection of B.C. products that Save-On-Foods has to offer.”
