Gobble giveway spread smiles

VantageOne Credit Union donated 20 turkeys for a Kindale event

A local credit union served up smiles for one of the most anticipated events on the calendar at Kindale Developmental Association.

Kindale’s annual Community Christmas Lunch is a way of saying thank you to the community for its appreciated support. This year, VantageOne Credit Union donated 20 turkeys, which were served up at the Armstrong event Tuesday.

The lunch is the highlight of the season for many people. It is a chance to catch up with old friends and make new ones.

Carrie has been attending for many years, snapping memories of the event with her camera. Asked what she likes best, Carrie responds, “the dark meat and skin of the turkey and the music!”

“Everyone has the opportunity to get involved”, laughs B Elliott, Kindale’s controller and chief dishwasher, “Even cleaning up can be fun!”

“It’s my favourite Kindale event of the year,” enthuses Cindy Masters, “and we couldn’t do it without the generosity of people like VantageOne who donate the turkeys, Gumtree Catering who prepares the feast, and the North Okanagan Knights who help serve.”

VantageOne’s turkey donation is part of the credit union’s annual great gobble giveaway – turkeys are given out to members of the bank.

CEO, Glenn Benischek states: “VantageOne is pleased to be able to not only thank our members for their decision to bank with our organization through our Christmas Turkey Program but to also help many worthwhile organizations in our community. Kindale is one such organization, providing much needed services to a key segment of our society. Thank you Kindale for all you do.”
