Dozens of community groups have started planning events as part of RespectFest 2017.

Walks and other activities that revolve around the concept of respect for nature, art, history, culture and education are being developed for the Sept. 18 to 24, marking Canada’s 150th birthday.

Any groups interested in creating their own RespectFest event are asked to complete an online application form by May 31 at www.respectfest2017.com/applications.

The Downtown Vernon Association is co-ordinating many of the activities along with the Allan Brooks Nature Centre and the Social Planning Council of North Okanagan.

Sessions for any groups wanting information will be held Wednesday from 4 to 5 p.m. or from 5 to 6 p.m. at the DVA office, 101-3334 30th Avenue.

Groups are asked to RSVP with their selected session time to events@downtownvernon.com
