North Okanagan residents will have a chance to speak out on the future of the region.
The proposed regional growth strategy will be the focus of a public hearing Wednesday at 3 p.m. at the Regional District of North Okanagan office.
“Years of collaborative work have led us to a vision for a sustainable and resilient future for the North Okanagan that we can all embrace,” said Herman Halvorson, chairperson.
“The strategy will help protect our agricultural lands, enhance the quality of rural and urban lifestyles, conserve the legacy of nature that defines this region and will save us money in the long run through encouraging compact, complete communities.”
Since 2009, the strategy process has resulted in RDNO staff presentations at more than 80 community or stakeholder meetings. There have also been eight open houses and four surveys.
The proposed bylaw is available at the RDNO office or at www.rdno.ca/rgs.
